This is the fourth Forrester Wave evaluation of AI services. Due to the disruptive influence of generative AI (genAI), the evaluation criteria evolved from previous waves to focus on criteria beyond simple partnering, outsourcing, and augmenting the AI bench to seeking business transformation support from AI services providers. The evaluation emphasizes providers that can share their own AI transformation journey experience, link AI solutions to balance sheet metrics, build executive behaviors and change management capabilities, and appropriately address AI risk while advancing AI reward.
A: The report notes that in previous three Forrester Wave evaluations of AI services, providers were evaluated much like typical digital services, comparing talent, methods, accelerators, and strategy. However, because of the disruptive genAI influence, this Q2 2024 evaluation shifted to consider criteria that go beyond traditional service provider metrics to focus on business transformation support. Vendors may appear or not appear based on whether they meet the updated inclusion criteria, which requires: over $250 million in revenue, substantial business consulting capabilities, demonstrated relevance to Forrester clients for AI initiatives, and high prevalence in competitive RFI/RFP processes.
