In the course of this evaluation, we removed a criterion that looked at how search solutions enable their customers to surface inventory availability and delivery options during shopping. All of the vendors in this evaluation address this in mainly the same way: by accepting product attributes as customers provide them (such as a yes/no toggle on an 'in stock' attribute, sent from an external system) and enabling customers to control how and where to bring that data into the shopping experience.
A: The report notes that the commerce search market has changed dramatically over the past decade, with eight of the 10 vendors in this evaluation having recent acquisitions — many in the past year, and one during the course of this research. These products are often the result of acquisitions as smaller tech markets converged to create this new market. Vendors may appear or disappear from year to year due to mergers, acquisitions, changes in product focus, or evolution of vendor offerings to meet (or fail to meet) the inclusion criteria which includes: strong enterprise support for commerce search and product discovery functionality, generally available standalone product, substantial mindshare among Forrester's enterprise clients, and at least $20 million in revenue from the commerce search and product discovery product in the last four quarters.
