The demand for data fabric is rising, as evidenced by the influx of over two dozen new vendors offering fabric capabilities since the last Forrester Wave evaluation in 2022. With the landscape of vendors expanding, buyers need to be more thoughtful about their needs and recognize that there are solutions available for almost any enterprise situation. The bar has been raised across the evaluation criteria to encompass the latest innovations and capabilities, incorporating advances in generative AI/LLMs, data intelligence, persona-based UIs, semantic integration, global transaction management, and seamless integration of the data fabric experience. There has been a notable shift toward transactional fabric, with bidirectional read-and-write capabilities to support modern applications such as microservices and real-time customer experience.
