This is the first Magic Quadrant for AI Code Assistants, replacing the Innovation Insight for AI Code Assistants in response to growing client demand for a more thorough evaluation of this market. AI code assistants have captured the attention of developers across the globe and are one of the most hyped technologies in the history of software development. Adoption is rapidly increasing as organizations seek to boost software developers' efficiency, minimize cognitive load, amplify problem solving, accelerate learning pace, foster creativity and maintain state of flow. Dozens of vendors have rushed to create their own commercial AI code assistants, and vendors are rapidly expanding and improving their capabilities.
A: This is the inaugural Magic Quadrant for AI Code Assistants, so there are no vendors appearing from a previous year. All 12 vendors included are new to this assessment. The report notes that to qualify for inclusion, providers needed to offer a product with all mandatory features that is generally available by 30 September 2024 and have at least 10 paying customer organizations.
