This is a new Magic Quadrant for CSP 5G Core Network Infrastructure Solutions. The market is evolving rapidly as 5G deployment shifts from non-stand-alone (NSA) to stand-alone (SA) networks with cloud-native infrastructure. Over 600 operators are investing in 5G globally, with nearly 350 having launched commercial services. Approximately 150 operators are focusing on public 5G SA deployments. Gartner projects that by the end of 2024, over 30% of 5G connections globally will be on SA networks. The market is characterized by increasing adoption of multivendor deployments, 'as-a-service' models, AI/ML integration (particularly NWDAF), open APIs, edge computing solutions, and diverse monetization strategies beyond traditional broadband connectivity.
A: As this is a new Magic Quadrant, vendors appear based on meeting inclusion criteria: (1) providing generally available 5G core solutions with minimum functions (UPF, AMF, SMF, PCF, UDM), (2) having a general availability date on or before December 31, 2023, and (3) having at least one commercial CSP deployment by December 31, 2023, excluding trials and testing. Vendor positions may change in future editions based on market evolution, changed evaluation criteria, vendor focus changes, mergers and acquisitions, product development, market responsiveness, and execution capabilities.
