Magic Quadrant for Custom Software Development Services
Vendors or products added in this year’s report may indicate a change in the market, change in evaluation criteria, or change of focus by the vendor.
Vendors or products dropped from one year to the next may indicate a change in the market, change in evaluation criteria, or change of focus by the vendor.
This Magic Quadrant addresses the CSD service capabilities of providers that meet Gartner's criteria for inclusion. It evaluates 20 providers as a point-in-time analysis, with status reflected as of July 2025. The criteria for inclusion are based on quantitative measures including minimum revenue thresholds (full-service providers: $3.8B minimum; pure-play providers: $725M minimum) and FTE counts (full-service: 42,000 minimum; pure-play: 7,300 minimum). The market recorded 7% average revenue growth in 2024, with providers collectively posting approximately $99 billion in revenue.
A: Vendors may appear in a Magic Quadrant one year and not the next due to changes in market evaluation criteria as markets evolve. This does not necessarily indicate a change in Gartner's opinion of the vendor, but may reflect changes in the market dynamics, adjusted evaluation criteria, or shifts in the vendor's focus. Inclusion criteria are reviewed and adjusted as markets change. For this research, vendors were dropped primarily due to not meeting updated cut-offs for total CSD services revenue, number of FTEs, and regional revenue and FTE balance requirements.
