Notable Context

Generative AI and digital sovereignty are among many new factors that are reshaping how enterprises select public cloud providers. The eight SCPS providers featured in this Magic Quadrant control over 97% of the total CIPS (Cloud Infrastructure and Platform Services) market. The global SCPS providers have been expanding beyond standard IaaS and PaaS services to offer complete solutions in strategic new areas such as AI/ML, digital sovereignty and industry clouds. Over the past two years, the race for preeminence in generative AI has resulted in a deluge of new GenAI services from all providers, based on both NVIDIA and proprietary hardware designs.

FAQs

Q: Why do vendors appear one year and not the next?

A: To qualify for inclusion in the Magic Quadrant for Strategic Cloud Platform Services, cloud providers must meet specific criteria including: market participation (sell public cloud IaaS and PaaS as stand-alone services), market traction and momentum (minimum revenue thresholds and global presence on at least three continents), business capabilities (24/7 support, language localization, global sales offices), and technical capabilities (comprehensive IaaS and PaaS services meeting mandatory and common features). Vendors must have either generated minimum $1 billion in revenue with $250 million from outside home country if generally available for more than three years, or $500 million in revenue with 40% CAGR if generally available for less than three years.
